Courses offered by Dr. Yang
ME467/567-Optical Measurement and Quality Inspection is offered by Dr. Yang both in Winter and Fall semesters, one of the following courses: ME665-Optical Methods in Experimental Mechanics; ME372-Properties of Materials; and ME361-Mechanics of Materials, will be offered in Winter Semester. In addition, ME361 will be offered in Summer I of each year. The descriptions of each course are listed below:
ME665: Optical Methods in Experimental Mechanics (4 credits)
Modern contemporary optical methods in experimental stress analysis, including digital laser speckle methods, digital image correlation methods, digital holography, digital shearography and other digital optical methods. Emphasis on DIGITAL, full field measurement and analysis of 3D-deformations and Strains, With lab, demo, and project.
ME467/567: Optical Measurement and Quality Inspection (4 credits)
Topics include the state-of-the art optical methods, such as laser triangulation, 3D computer version, image correlation, electronic speckle pattern interferometry, speckle pattern shearing interferometry (shearography), infrared and ultrasonic methods, with applications to measurement of 3D-shape, 3D-displacement, vibration, material properties etc. and to quality inspection and nondestructive test (NDT). ME372: Properties of Materials (4 credits) The
Atomic, molecular and crystalline structure of solids, including a description of x-ray analysis, metallography and other methods of determing structure; correlation of structure with the electric, magnetic and mechanical properties of solids. With laboratory.
ME361: Mechanics of Materials (4) (Summer 2008)
Introduction to the mechanics of deformable bodies: distribution of stress and strain in beams, shafts, columns, pressure vessels and other structural elements, factor of safety, yield and fracture criteria of materials with applications to design.
