🔬 Neuron Components

🌿

Dendrites

Branch-like structures that receive signals from other neurons. A single neuron can have thousands of dendrites, each connecting to different neurons.

â•

Cell Body (Soma)

The central processing unit of the neuron. It sums up all incoming signals and decides whether to fire an output signal (action potential).

📡

Axon

The long cable that transmits electrical signals away from the cell body. Covered by myelin sheath for faster transmission (up to 120 m/s!).

🔗

Synapse

The gap between neurons where chemical signals (neurotransmitters) are released. The strength of these connections changes during learning!
