REAL TIME DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB
A digital signal processor (DSP) is a specialized microprocessor with an architecture optimized for the operational needs of digital signal processing.
We do a number of research and development projects in this lab using TI DSP processors.
Some of the projects include
- Active Noise cancellation in real time for automotive muffler and other applications
- Real time Road Scene analysis, detection of road signs, detection and prediction of road edges in varying light conditions and weather conditions.
- Removing Haze from images in real time.
- Identifying objects and hazards on the road
- Ant colony optimization algorithms for finding shortest path in mines.
- Fuzzy logic and neural network techniques for ground leveling by tractor
- Drones flight computations and control
- Digital correlation for noise path analysis
- DSP with FPGA
- Others in arenas of audio signal, speech processing, RADAR, seismology, audio, SONAR, voice recognition, and some financial signals.
Analog systems are less accurate because of component tolerance ex R, L, C and active components. Digital components are less sensitive to the environmental changes, noise and disturbances. Digital system is most flexible as software programs & control programs can be easily modified.
